Palin Tells NRA Obama Would Ban Guns if He Could

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sarah Palin told NRA members meeting here that the only reason President Obama and his allies aren’t trying to limit gun ownership rights is the fear of a political backlash.

“Don’t doubt for a minute that, if they thought they could get away with it, they would ban guns and ban ammunition and gut the Second Amendment,” Palin told the annual NRA gathering Friday. She urged some 9,000 NRA members to “stop them in their tracks.”

The NRA’s “Celebration of American Values” event was part political rally, part Tea Party gathering, with a parade of mostly Republican warm-up acts before Palin, the day’s star, spoke. An NRA member, she electrified the crowd with a speech that defended Alaska, the Second Amendment and America, and attacked President Obama, the “lamestream media,” and gun control activists — “anti-Second Amendment rights activists,” she called them.

While some might dismiss her as an “NRA gun-nut chick,” she said, those folks don’t get it. “Criminals are, of course, to blame for the crimes,” she said. “It’s the bad guys, not the piece of metal.” All gun bans do is “take them away from law-abiding citizens.”

Palin said Second Amendment rights – which “protect the weak from the strong” — are “so important especially” for women and minorities.

In front of this friendly crowd that interrupted her speech with applause and stood for much of it, she attacked hypocritical “celebrities, Hollywood types,” who produce violent “shoot ‘em-up action films.” They employ armed bodyguards and live in gated communities, she said, but “have a problem with you owning a gun to protect you and your family.”

“Those left-wing groups are supposed to be so tolerant of everybody’s lifestyle, but they’re intolerant of our lifestyle.”

Palin took a comedy break midway through her speech to embrace her “redneck” spirit, saying that some jokes she has heard “aren’t funny, these are me.” If shopping for dinner involves an orange vest or camo, then you’re a redneck? That’s me, she said. But, turning her remarks toward politics and November, she said, “I can’t wait for these midterm elections . . . We’ll show them what we think of this fundamental transformation of America that we have been promised.”

Chelsey Vanderpool of San Diego gave her a thumbs-up. “She seems honest, a real person,” said the 25-year-old student, who has served in the Navy. Her husband is deployed and most of her family is military, she told me.

While none of the other speakers had the star power of Palin, a few got ovations for choice one-liners.

Ken Blackwell, former Ohio secretary of state and the author, with Ken Klukowski, of “The Blueprint: Obama’s Plan to Subvert the Constitution and Build an Imperial Presidency”

“Rights are gifts from God, not grants of state.”

Former United Nations ambassador John Bolton (the U.N. got booed):
“Today we’ve got a different kind of president, the first post-American president.”

Michael Reagan, radio host and son of President Ronald Reagan:
“Liberals are like termites, eating away at the foundation of this country every day. That is their job.”

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.):
“When our freedoms are threatened, battle is our calling.”

Lt. Col. Oliver North:
“If there was no NRA, then we would have to invent one.”

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.):
“I am a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order.”

Just a few Democrats got face time, and they spent it shoring up their gun-loving bona fides. Rep. Heath Shuler of North Carolina spoke about NASCAR’s moonshine-running roots and the joys of father-and-son hunting excursions. “I don’t think there’s another member of Congress who buys more ammunition in a year than I do,” he said.

I’m gonna stop reading right there, cuz I already know this article is bunk. Not ONCE has President Obama said anything about guns, or limiting guns. Not even the very much needed assault weapons ban. Read my lips, President Obama doesn’t care about guns!! Even after that nutsack brought a gun to his speaking event, he didn’t say anything against guns. In fact, that one bill that had the concealed weapons allowed in national parks attached to it passed, and Obama didn’t say a peep!! Gun control activist groups have rated President Obama as a “D” when it comes to gun control.

Besides, ANY President, ANY Congress could “get away with” what Miss Bendy Straws tries to attribute to President Obama only. If you have the votes, anything is possible. Hell, just look at what Presidente Bush did to the rights of the accused parts of the Bill of Rights. 😀

The fetching former Governor of Alaska has really “hit the bullseye” in her critique of President Obama & his anti-gun policies. While in the Illinois Senate, he voted to prosecute people who use a firearm for self defense, while in their own homes. He has opposed “right to carry” laws, while endorsing the banning of rifle ammunition & handguns, unreasonable tax increases on firearms & ammunition designed to make them unaffordable to most Americans, limits on gun purchases even for collectors, gun owner licensing & gun registration. Add in the fact that Vice President Biden brags about being the author of the original assault weapons ban, and we could be looking at the most anti-gun Administration in our history.

There is little doubt that if Obama truly thought he could get away with banning guns, he would surely try to and if heaven forbid he is re-elected, he probably will attempt it.

As we watch the “Tyranny on Parade” of this regime we are reminded of what the second amendment was talking about regarding an armed citizenry as “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. As we are being fundamentally transformed from America to Obamaland, we can expect every one of our rights to be challenged by the tyrants.

(really liked this one) – Michael Reagan, radio host and son of President Ronald Reagan:
“Liberals are like termites, eating away at the foundation of this country every day. That is their job.”

Can we fire them from that job?

Oh please. It’s now almost half way through Obama’s first term, and NOTHING has changed!!!! All this nonsense from the right wing about these huge changes that were gonna happen when Obama became president, bullshit bullshit.

Unfortunately, Obama is not a far left socialist activist, but rather a moderate/conservative Democrat. 😦

Speaking of Sarah Palin, she spoke somewhere this weekend (not sure, out of town this weekend and only caught a “glance” on Tv), she stated that President Obama needs to “do his job” and stop immigrants from coming across the border. My answer to that is – why didn’t your Republican Pres. Bush do something to stop them from coming here??? Now, I know you would say that somehow the Democrats wouldn’t “let” him do anything…Bull! Maybe it was because Bush had illegals working for him in Texas?? So, YOUR President didn’t do anything to solve this problem, so don’t complain about the current President not doing anything.

Really funny how they aren’t so quick to mention when she “spoke for hire” at an event sponsored by a SUMP PUMP COMPANY!!! LOLLLLL!!! 😀 Sump pumps, she’s a few steps away from working as the model at a boat show!! lol

But one thing Miss Bendy Straws did do funny is read some “redneck” jokes off her cell phone. At least she learned not to rely on her hand anymore.

Speaking of which, had Levi Johnston relied on his hand instead, Palin’s political “career” would be not as bad as it is now. *rimshot*

Sarah Palin appeared at a rally with & supporting Arizona Governor Jan Brewer when she spoke the true words that are echoed by many Americans.

President Bush did attempt “immigration reform” (aka: amnesty) while in office, much to the chagrin of conservatives. Bush’s Administration also began construction of the controversial border fence, and was roundly criticized for it by screeching banshees from the left like Nancy Pelosi, who told a crowd that our attempts to curb illegal immigration with raids & other effective tactics was “un-American”.

The border fence was not constructed as quickly as I would’ve liked, or even completed or properly funded in the latter days of Bush’s 2nd term, but to suggest that President George W. Bush “didn’t do anything” to solve the problem of illegal immigration is not accurate – he may not have done enough, but he has done more than Obama has, now that all construction of the border fence has ceased under this Administration, despite his having a former border State Governor currently serving (incompetently) as DHS Secretary.

Last I heard, President Obama was telling graduates not to listen to information sources other than those that were Obama approved, so they didn’t get information overload. Hopefully he will be able to limit information for public consumption in the near future…

Wouldn’t the same tyrant who wants to take away information also want to take away your guns?

    • Hacksaw says:

This from Mr. “I’m keeping my blackberry!” despite the security concerns expressed by the Secret Service & others upon his transitioning into office…

    • polarbear20 says:

Last I heard, President Obama was telling graduates not to listen to information sources other than those that were Obama approved, so they didn’t get information overload.

Which I’ll bet he heard on a news source that was Rush Limbag approved. 😀

  7. therealgirlscout says:

Wah, Wah, Wah, poor Mr. bush didn’t have time to take care of the immigration problem. Yeah, right. Wanna bet that 3 presidents from now nothing will be any different?

  8. Hacksaw says:

George W Bush definitely had the time in office required to address the immigration problem, and as stated before his Administration did begin the construction of the border fence.

I think that “W” kinda lost the will to proceed on any kind of immigration reform after his attempt to ensure amnesty was defeated, and then he was faced with other pressing issues like the then deteriorating situation in Iraq, his cornerstone agenda item.

Although both parties have traditionally danced around the issue of illegal immigration and no Presidential Administration to date has truly tried to solve it for fear of offending an ever growing Hispanic population in America, I don’t think that we’ll still be having this conversation 3 administrations from now. I believe that if any kind of terrorist attack on our soil can be traced to a person or persons who entered our country through the porous southern border, then the outcry and demands that the government finally get control of & secure that border will be so intense that whomever is in power will have to take it seriously and finally address the problem if they wish to stay in power, as most politicians usually do.
