Apparently it’s against the rules of the Catholic church to save a mother’s life. Bishop and grade A douchebag Thomas J. Olmsted says, “An unborn child is not a disease … the end does not justify the means.” So according to him, TWO people have to die because abortion is supposedly “murder”(rolls eyes). Not only that, but FOUR children have to lose their mother, a husband has to lose his wife and parents have to lose their daughter. I don’t know about anyone else, but even if you do believe abortion is murder, it should be clear as day that ONE death is better than TWO. That the emotional burden of losing an unborn child, while still extremely heavy, isn’t the same as losing a mother, a wife and a daughter.
But it’s no surprise. Once again one of these so-called “family values” institutions does something completely not in the interest of family values. I don’t know what kind of warped values some people have, but for me leaving a mother to die because abortion is “bad” is NOT a value I subscribe to. With all this talk about “the value of human life“, what about that mother’s life? If she can be saved, why should she be forced to die? In this case either way the child would die, she’s only 11 weeks pregnant.
Just like any one of these “family values” issues, it’s all about CONTROL. Simple as that. They want to CONTROL you!! Gay marriage isn’t a threat to families, it isn’t a threat to straight marriage. Uptight christens just want to tell you what to do. Same thing with this. The Catholic church was the loudest screamer against ending the life of a woman who had been brain dead since the 1990s, Terri Schiavo. But this woman, too bad. You get to die because abortion is a sin.
And the nun. I like her!! Finally someone in this religious mess with a functioning brain. The problem with religion is the absence of rational thought. People get all wrapped up in what some old book says, what some man in a robe says, what they think their deity wants them to do. But this nun was able to look at the situation, evaluate the facts and make the correct medical decision. If this were not a religious hospital, this decision would have been made, with no big deal at all. Just another medical procedure that happens every day. But one thing despised by ANY organized religion is free thought. Can’t have any of that, it might lead to rebellion. And then how are they gonna rake in their tax free profits?
