Obama Wastes Millions of Taxpayer Dollars on Personal Entertainment

The very same person who constantly tells us to “sacrifice” and to “tighten our belts” in the midst of the recession that swept him into office is partying at taxpayer expense in the words of rock star Prince “like it’s 1999” and the World is still scheduled to end in the year 2000.

The infamous & hypocritical “Do as I say, not as I do” doesn’t even work for most parents, and it definitely doesn’t work for our President, especially when most of us know that we could merely open up a phone book & pick a name at random, and probably identify a person who is considerably more honest, and qualified for the job.

Obama Wastes Millions of Taxpayer Dollars in Personal Entertainment

The same hypocrite who says our energy costs must “necessarily skyrocket” to fund his political ambition, is giving Marie Antoinette a run for her money when it comes to spending national treasure on personal luxuries.

While much of the country is struggling to pay their bills, the President and First Lady are partying like rock royalty. The collection of talent that has made the pilgrimage to the White House to entertain Obama and friends is nothing less than amazing: Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennet, Paul Simon, Marc Anthony, Herbie Hancock, Martina McBride, Queen Latifah, The Foo Fighters, Faith Hill, and recently foot-in-mouth Paul McCartney to name a few.

This has the makings to be the greatest ongoing concert series ever to be seen on this Earth just to entertain one man … all paid for by the American taxpayer.

Let Them Eat Cake

How much does this world-class entertainment cost? Assuming the artists themselves forgo appearance fees, I highly doubt Paul Simon would perform with just a karaoke machine as backup.
Professional equipment needs to be brought in – sound engineers, stages, lights, etc… Even small scale performances by these artists can be very expensive.

Add booze, food, security, invitations, social secretaries, wait staff, and hangers on to the tab and the price for one of these events could easily top $75K. With over 27 concerts hosted thus far, the total cost to taxpayers is in the millions of dollars.

The executive branch does not provide detailed information regarding entertainment expenses, however, it has been estimated the Obamas spent at least $10 million on “drunken White House parties” in 2009 alone.

The Audacity of Food Stamps

Considering the country is at war and a record 40 million Americans rely on food stamps to eat, Obama should show some class and skip the expensive partying.

Whether it’s the world’s greatest concert series, multi-million dollar date night in New York or taxpayer funded shopping in Europe for the First Lady, the Obamas are exposing themselves as nothing more than greedy, self-serving politicians.

While the President and First Lady insist the rest of us endure economic hardship for the greater good, they are living like a king and queen on our dime.

His “entertainment programs” have been enjoyed by a significant number of Americans, if that makes up a majority, then that’s “American’s entertainment!”

  2. hybridtalk1 says:

    He really is our king.

  3. FENG says:

Let’s see the November election results.

  4. therealgirlscout says:

Blah, blah, blah. So does every President. Really hacksaw, don’t you have anything better to complain about? Life is short. go out for a walk and smell the flowers! :p

  5. Hacksaw says:

I’ve stated before that we Americans do expect a certain amount of glamour from our President & First Lady, but you’ve got to admit that these two go a bit overboard with the frequent & lavish parties, and the expensive but unnecessary trips on Air Force One like to signing ceremonies in various cities just for a photo op, when bills could & should be signed into law from his desk in the Oval Office.

In the midst of this deep recession in which millions of Americans are really hurting, it is quite insensitive of President Obama to be publically sporting money the way he is, especially when we overburdened taxpayers know that we’re the ones who are footing the bill for his indulgence.

Right, Bush never had parties at the White House. And he never wasted time and resources on bullshit photo ops. Because Bush never pretended to fly a plane and make a speech in front of a “Mission Accomplished” banner.

I hope he has as many parties as he wants. You only get to be president once and I’m tired of right wing Negative Nancys trying to take all his fun away. I remember around the inauguration one conservative talking head going as far as to say he shouldn’t even have the inaugural ball that year, because of the economy. They even tried to take that away from him!!

  6. therealgirlscout says:

hacksaw – do you ever just let loose and have a good time?! LOL
We need to take you out partying and show you a good time so you can just enjoy yourself and stop thinking about politics all the time!! 🙂

    • Hacksaw says:

I manage to enjoy myself frequently, and to keep myself quite amused. You & I could go out partying, but then again neither one of us are supposed to be running this country. We’re not passing the hat around to every taxpaying citizen, and then gleefully spending the money we collect on ourselves, while telling everybody else to tighten their own belts.

Besides, today is a good day to think about politics, with important primary elections going on in a dozen States. “We the People” are getting our chance to speak, and Washington D.C. cannot help but to hear & listen to us, if only for today.

    • polarbear20 says:

Please!! You should already know that conservatives don’t have the “let loose” part of their brain. 😀 They can never have fun.

I agree!! We should take him somewhere: skateboarding, a punk show, something fun. Get something pierced and get some “anarchy tattoos”. lol 😀

  7. Princess says:

well………..it could be said that in general when “some” people get their hands on OTHER PEOPLE’S money………..they ummmmmmmm go CRAZY.
    tsk tsk

    • polarbear20 says:

Yeah, like when Chickenhawks get their hand on the defense budget and declare two wars. One war being total bullshit with lies as justification.

  8. therealgirlscout says:

Oh brother, hacksaw! Sometime I’d just like to hear you talk about good times and use an explanation point now and then! :p Just let loose with a big belly-laugh. Laughter is good for your health! I challenge you to write a post that has nothing to do with politics or the military!!

  9. Hacksaw says:

Right, Bush never had parties at the White House. And he never wasted time and resources on bullshit photo ops. Because Bush never pretended to fly a plane and make a speech in front of a “Mission Accomplished” banner.

He didn’t have half the parties that Barry is currently throwing, he quit playing golf in office out of sensitivity of being perceived to live it up while our troops are deployed in combat, fighting & dying while“the Bama” plays more golf than Tiger Woods, and besides, the economy didn’t really go bad under Bush until after the 2006 mid term elections, when the Democrats took control of the Congress.

I hope he has as many parties as he wants. You only get to be president once and I’m tired of right wing Negative Nancys trying to take all his fun away. I remember around the inauguration one conservative talking head going as far as to say he shouldn’t even have the inaugural ball that year, because of the economy. They even tried to take that away from him!

People said the same about “W”, suggesting that he should forgo his 2nd inauguration festivities due to the fact that we were at war.

Please!! You should already know that conservatives don’t have the “let loose” part of their brain. 😀 They can never have fun.

Actually, I do rather enjoy election nights, they are the only times I watch the liberal news channels and it’s fun watching them suffer, and make lame excuses as to why conservatives are kicking butt.

Yeah, like when Chickenhawks get their hand on the defense budget and declare two wars. One war being total bullshit with lies as justification.

    Which lies, these ones?

“There’s not that much difference between my position and George Bush’s position at this stage.” – Barack Obama, July 27, 2004

“People can quarrel with whether we should have more troops in Afghanistan or internationalize Iraq or whatever, but it is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted for stocks of biological and chemical weapons.” – Bill Clinton, July 22, 2003

“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real.” – Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), Jan. 23, 2003

“We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction.” – Sen. Bob Graham (D-FL), Dec. 8, 2002

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members … It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.” – Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Oct 10, 2002

“He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do” – Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), Oct. 10, 2002

“There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years … We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction.” – Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), Oct 10, 2002

“We stopped the fighting in 1991 on an agreement that Iraq would take steps to assure the world that it would not engage in further aggression and that it would destroy its weapons of mass destruction. It has refused to take those steps. That refusal constitutes a breach of the armistice which renders it void and justifies resumption of the armed conflict.”- Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), Oct. 9, 2002

“We have credible reporting that Al Qaeda leaders sought contacts in Iraq who could help them acquire W.M.D. capabilities. The reporting also stated that Iraq has provided training to Al Qaeda members in the areas of poisons and gases and making conventional bombs.” – CIA Director George Tenet, Oct 7, 2002

“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons.” – Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV), Oct. 3, 2002

“We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country.” – Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

“There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein’s regime is a serious danger, that he is a tyrant, and that his pursuit of lethal weapons of mass destruction cannot be tolerated. He must be disarmed.

We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.” – Sen. Edward Kennedy, (D-MS) Sept. 27, 2002

“We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them.” – Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), Sept. 19, 2002

“I mean, we have three different countries that, while they all present serious problems for the United States — they’re dictatorships, they’re involved in the development and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction — you know, the most imminent, clear and present threat to our country is not the same from those three countries. I think Iraq is the most serious and imminent threat to our country.” – Sen. John Edwards, (D-NC) Feb. 24, 2002

“Hussein has … chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies.” – Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.” –Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Dec. 16, 1998

“He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.” – Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb. 18, 1998

“His regime threatens the safety of his people, the stability of his region, and the security of all the rest of us.

What if he fails to comply, and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made?

Well, he will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction.

And some day, some way, I guarantee you, he’ll use the arsenal.” – President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

Man, even your comments are a novel. 😀

I’m gonna be here until my 60th birthday!! :p

      • Hacksaw says:

That one was excessively long because I included numerous exact quotes from some well known Democrats, all of them saying the exact same thing that George W. Bush is constantly accused of “lying” for having said.

What I still fail to understand is why if he’s supposed to be so “dumb”, and they’re all supposed to be so “intelligent”, then how was he able to “deceive” all of these so-called brainiacs, many of who have spent decades in politics & in Washington, D.C.?

      • therealgirlscout says:

        LOL!!!!!!

  12. mzkatie says:

At least we can all agree, including all those people mentioned, that Iraq, & the rest of the world, is a better place without Saddam Hussein in it.
